How You Can Help CAVEAT Stop the Violence * Become a CAVEAT Member ($25, $10 for students and seniors, $35 for families). Your membership is needed to help strengthen our stand. Please click here for more information on becoming a CAVEAT member * Donate money or any unique services, skills, or goods you might have that would help further our cause. * Volunteer at CAVEAT if you are near one of our offices in Burlington, Ontario; Edmonton, Alberta; or Langley, B.C. * Help out in your own area by following some of the suggestions listed below. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9 Ways You Can Help In Your Own Area 1. Tell your friends, family, and colleagues about CAVEAT. Get them to take out CAVEAT memberships. Our membership numbers are very important. Governments need to know how many Canadians support what we are saying and doing. Circulate CAVEAT literature and postcards. Tell them about this CAVEAT Internet Site. 2. Press school trustees, etc. for anti-violence programs in the schools. 3. Encourage your school board to organize a 'Youth Challenge' event in your area. Purchase the CAVEAT Break the Silence booklet and Youth Challenge video to assist in organizing a day-long, anti-violence youth conference. 4. Attend court hearings in your area: * to help represent the concerned public and support the victim, and * to gain awareness of the court process. 5. Arrange for a CAVEAT speaker to address your group (Ontario, B.C., Alberta) 6. Circulate our national petition and return the signatures to CAVEAT (3 Million signatures collected to date). 7. Organize a fundraising event to raise money to help CAVEAT continue its work (eg. a casual-dress day at work, a bake sale, a barbeque, a craft show, a fashion show, etc.) 8. Keep informed. Don't talk only to your family and neighbours but to your Member of Parliament as well. Obtain information on legislation and bills currently before the House of Commons from your local M.P.'s office. 9. Help spread random acts of kindness, not violence. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get involved! You too can make a difference.
